India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Fijian Government will next month host the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, who will be on an official visit.

Mr Modi arrrives at Nausori International Airport on November 19 at 5.00amo’clock in the morning.

There he will be introduced to the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama and his wife Mary Bainimarama before he is presented a bouquet.

Mr Bainimarama will then introduce Mr Modi to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander, Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga, who will lead him to inspect a guard of honour mounted by the RFMF.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of India’s first official engagement will be a courtesy call on the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at 8.00am.

At 8.30am, he will be accorded a welcome ceremony at the ANZ Stadium by personnel of the RFMF.

At the conclusion of the traditional ceremony of welcome, he will meet Indo-Fijian community leaders and members of the public.

At 10am, he will make a courtesy call on Mr Bainimarama, after which both prime ministers will witness the signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between the Ministers of the Republic of Fiji and the Republic of India at the Cabinet Chambers.

After lunch Mr Modi will visit and lay the foundation stone at the proposed site of the High Commission of India at Thurston Gardens.

He will also visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple, FNU Apollo project, the Cardiac Surgical Project at CWM Hospital [sponsored by the Indian Government] or visit Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School.

At 5pm, he will hold a collective meeting with Pacific leaders on areas of key interests.

He flies back to India at 10pm after a state dinner hosted by the Prime Minister at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva.

Mr Modi will also inspect a guard of honour before he leaves.
