Over 900 children converged at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday for the FMF Chow Games organised by the Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association.

Thirteen districts took part in the annual event.

From the outset, the event has taken on a whole new meaning for a lot of participating districts.

Despite the difficulties some districts faced over the years putting together a team and making arrangements to travel  to Labasa, they continue to make the effort to participate every year.

Games coordinator, Eliki Vuakaca said schools came all the way from Cakaudrove, Taveuni, Bua and Macuata.

“This event brings everyone together and encourages active participation among children,” Vuakaca said.

“Children get the friendly vibe of the game at the same time showcasing their talents.

“They learn to compete in good spirit which not only portrays good sportsmanship but good citizenship as well.”

Vuakaca thanked FMF for sponsoring the event together with the Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association and hardworking coaches and officials for managing the event successfully in the North.
