Marijuana Raid In Taveuni
Almost 30 plants, believed to be marijuana, were found after two raids by Police in Taveuni.

The Fiji Police Force is calling for a collective approach towards ridding the society of illicit drugs.

This comes after two raids were conducted in Taveuni where almost 30 plants, believed to be marijuana, were found.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the first raid was conducted at Momici settlement at a 44-year-old’s farm where 24 plants, believed to be marijuana, were uprooted.

In another incident at the same settlement, a team raided the farm of a 34-year-old and uprooted five plants believed to be marijuana.

Ms Naisoro said both suspects were arrested, interviewed and released while awaiting plant analysis reports.

Meanwhile a 29-year-old was arrested at Vunisea Jetty, Kadavu, following a tip-off that he had marijuana on him.

Ms Naisoro said the Police searched the suspect and allegedly found in his possession three parcels, believed to be marijuana, wrapped in a newspaper.

She said the dried leaves were seized and had been sent for analysis while investigations continued.

“The Fiji Police Force continues on its campaign to weed out illicit drugs from our communities,” she said.

“We are grateful for the assistance of members of the public who continue to provide us information on such illegal activities.”
