New Home Brings Joy To Nabouono Family

A family of Nabouono Village in Vanua Levu, was overjoyed when they received the key to their new home from the Roko Tui Macuata, Sitiveni Lalibuli, on Wednesday.

The owner of the new home, Lasarusa Vulacili, said their old home could easily be blown away by strong winds.

“I thank the Government and the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), engineers for meeting my needs and building a house for me and my family.”

“We have a new roof over our heads and we are blessed to be given a new home.”

The house, under the Cyclone Thomas Rehabilitation programme, was built by the RFMF engineering team in Labasa.

Warrant officer Class One Ratu Viko Tagivetaua said his team was deployed to various villages under the Cyclone Thomas Rehabilitation programme to assist people move on with their lives by providing new shelters.

Mr Tagivetaua said the cost of the house was $16,500.

He said his team had completed 56 houses while 86 are yet to be built.
