Members of the Veivueti Women’s Club under the Sailoama Methodist Church in Nadawa, Suva, are preparing for the Nasinu Methodist Circuit Annual Women’s Show next week.

The show takes place next Saturday at the Imanueli Methodist Church in Nasinu.

Since January, club members had been meeting every Friday to prepare the items they plan to put on display on the day.

Club vice-president Asinate Kama said the show would feature handicrafts, pastry, jam and pickles, and floral show and flower arrangements.

“We’ve been meeting and preparing our products for seven months, weaving mats, sewing pillow cases, painting materials, learning flower arrangements and cooking jam, pickles and cake samples,” Ms Kama said.

She said the beauty about the club was that they had never attended any training or course to learn the skills that they possessed now.

“We won a lot of prizes in 2011 and last year under the leadership of Inieta Vereti. I guess it’s because of the originality of the products the women made.

This year, we aim to come out on top again,” Ms Kama said.

She said the club was financed by the members who contributed $2 each every week.
