The Suva Golden Oldies Rugby Club launched the ‘Balls and Beards’ campaign at Cathedral Secondary School yesterday.

Club president Jope Tuivanuavou clarifies  the campaign is to help create awareness of prostate cancer in men.

“Prostate cancer is the killer disease in men and we are doing this campaign to keep people stay healthy and active,”he said.

“We will be doing this campaign for one month and we are targeting to raise at least $25,000 this year.

“We acknowledge our sponsors Digicel and BSP for coming on board and assisting us.”

The club got together for their opening match yesterday with men above 35 years old competing in a fundraising campaign. They would have their second meet on November 29 where four teams would be competing which include Fiji, Pacific Islanders, a combine Australia and New Zealand team and Rest of the Countries teams.

Last year the club raised more than $20,000 out of which $15,000 was given to the Ministry of Health.
