The Republic Fiji Military Forces Academy and Oldies rugby teams beat their Police counterparts during annual 2014 ANZ Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge last Friday.

The RFMF Academy beat the Fiji Police Academy team 20-17 while the RFMF Oldies team beat the Fiji Police Oldies 17-0 at the ANZ Stadium.

RFMF Oldies coach Watisoni Ratulevu says it’s been a good season compared to last year.

“It’s a good year for the development and oldies team,”he said.

“It’s hard to coach the oldies but they listened to me and I’m really grateful.

“It has been an honor working with them and the fact that we have taken the titles from Police goes to show that age is not a barrier.”

Ratulevu said regardless of the win, the tournament is about bringing two forces together.

“The Ratu Sukuna Bowl brings forces together and we want to dedicate this win to the late likimi Torosi and Nemani Matirewa” he said.

Meanwhile, Fiji Police Academy coach Neumi Donu was gracious in defeat.

“We lost to a better team and we’re grateful to be part of the annual event.” Donu said.

In the ANZ Ratu Sukuna Bowl clash, RFMF beat Fiji Police 18-10. In the Wives netball category, RFMF Wives Veteran 42 Police 20, Open Grade RFMF 29 Police 31. In volleyball, RFMF Veterans 1 Police 3, RFMF 3 Police 0 (open grade).
