The Suva Special School has commended the Ministry of Education for holding the week-long exhibition at the Government  Referral Centre in Suva.

School headteacher Bishwa Sidal said the exhibition had enabled the school to showcase its artworks during the two-day duration they were given during the week long exhibition.

“The display was really appreciated by the public and the thanks to the Ministry of Education team for putting up this exhibition.

“This is the second time   we are taking   part but this time we were given a few more extra days to come and show our talents and the products we make in school,” Mr Sidal said.

“Our involvement in the exhibition is more of creating awareness and trying to show the community our inclusiveness and those children with special needs also can do and have the ability to perform, to socialise and be valued in the society.”

The school showed art and crafts, oil paintings, wood work products, coffee tables, toys and teaching aids created by the students.

“I think we were the highlights of the past two days and lots of the products that were made by children were sold for us to get money back for our vocational department.”

He said the school made use of every opportunity such as invitations to open days and exhibition because it was a way of being in partnership with existing organisations to promote the students’ talents.
