Tovolea Win Great Eight 7s

A new winner was crowned at the 2014 Coastal Great Eight 7s tournament at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

Tovolea beat Tabadamu 19-14 in the final.

Defending champions Wardens Gold failed to keep their form after they were beaten by  Tovolea in the Cup semifinal.

Tovolea edged Wardens Gold 17-12 while CK Easy Buy Tabadamu thrashed Tokatoka Westfield Dragons One 26-7  in the second semifinal.

Tournament director, Jay Whyte congratulated Tovolea.

“As anticipated, the two day tournament showcased impressive rugby skills,” he said.

Whyte says the standard was extremely high as the top 8 teams record close victories.

Wardens Gold has qualified for the 2014 Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast Sevens alongside Red Rock, Police, Tovolea, Tokatoka Westfield Dragons One, Western Suburbs, CK Easy Buy Tabadamu, Wardens Green while reigning champions Yamacia has already qualified.

“Now we look forward for the 2014 Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast Sevens in two weeks time,” Whyte said.

Tovolea received $2000 while Tabadamu pocketed $1000 and the losing semifinalists  $500 each.

CK Easy Buy Tabadamu- Jone Tavaga, Manasa Vuninakai, Jerry Naviko, Osea Turagarua, Setefano Cakau, Neumi Lagilagi, Sitiveni Waqa, Eloni Turagaivu, Epeli Serau, Luke Gaunimeke, David Batiratu, Leo Naikasau.
