The malfunctioning traffic lights near the Laqere Bridge in Nasinu were blamed as the cause of an accident yesterday. A van tumbled over after colliding with a taxi.

A policeman was dispatched to the scene to manage traffic flow.

The taxi driver Aklesh Lal said he was travelling from Nadera to Nausori when the accident happened.

“I was coming out of Ratu Dovi Road at the Laqere junction near the traffic light when we collided and the van tumbled on its side,” Mr Lal said.

He said the accident could have been easily avoided if the traffic lights were working.

Police investigations continue.
