Vendors in Labasa are taking advantage of fruits like mango which is in season.

It’s that time of the year when mangoes, pineapples and some other fruits are in season and they are popular with fruit lovers.

Lilieta Tusaravu, who lives at Nailawa Settlement outside Labasa, sells her produce to feed her family.

She is a Labasa Market vendor and sells papaw, eggplants, coconuts and bananas. Mango is the latest addition to her table, and she is earning a lot from it.

“My husband is a security officer and we have to look after our six adopted children. Three of them are attending the University of the South Pacific, one in the National Fire Authority and two in primary school,” Mrs Tusaravu said.

“On a good day, I can make as much as $40 profit which is not bad considering I am here to see the kids off to school in the morning and also I am at home to greet them when they return in the afternoon.

“I make good profits and sometimes I earn more and it is enough to cater for my family.

“I tell you this is the best job in the world. I meet interesting people every day and never have a boring moment,” she said.
