Minister Reminds Workers Of Ethics

Having the right attitude and commitment to serve is essential to effectively deliver your role as a civil servant, says the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar.

She made the comment whilst speaking to the senior managers of her ministry on developing good work ethics last week.

“It is important to cultivate the right attitude and positive mindset to perform your role as civil servants and because this ministry deals with social issues, the officers need to serve with compassion and courage,” Ms Akbar said.

She said they needed to have commitment to aspire for the vision of the Ministry which was to reach out and empower the underprivileged individuals and families in Fiji.

“I acknowledged the ministry staff for their achievements and I encourage them to reach for greater heights in their role as civil servants.”

Mrs Akbar said they should continue to do their best to empower women, children, senior citizens and persons living with disabilities.

“The ministry plays an important role in uplifting the lives of individuals and families in Fiji.

“There is no room for laxity, you have to instill the values of being honest, punctual and serve with loyalty.”

She said they hoped to see the staffs perform their roles with diligence and compassion.
