The days of interrupted water supply for the people of Magodro, Bukuya, in the highlands of Ba, are over.

They have received two 10,000 litre water tanks from the LDS Charities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Classes at the Magodro District School and the community’s lifestyle were recently disrupted because of water shortages caused by the prolonged dry weather.

Frank Stanford, the Assistant Welfare Manager for the LDS Charities, said that “water storage is essential to the success of the school and the village and we were out there trying to help. The tanks will be managed by the school committee. “

He said the recent drought in the West had affected many lives and especially those children in the Bukuya area. Even though there had been rain, it was not sufficient to cater for their needs, he said.

The tanks will supply water to the 250 students, their teachers and 800 members of the village community.

In the handover held at the school the LDS Charities team was entertained by the pupils of the school who sang songs and performed a Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs play.
