Courses For Officers In Russia, India, China

Acting Commissioner of Police Isikeli Vuniwaqa said they were planning for more overseas courses for Police officers next year.

ACP Vuniwaqa said this when he farewelled more than 20 officers, who will leave the country this week, to attend various courses overseas.

Fifteen officers will leave for China to attend the Anti-Riot Emergency Response and Security of Large Scale Events training. Two will leave for Russia to attend the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation in a Globalised World training.

Three officers will leave for India where one will attend a Global Human Resource Management course, the second will do a Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation and the third officer will attend the Men Engaged Global Symposium.

Acting Commissioner Vuniwaqa reminded the officers that they were not only representing the organisation but the country as a whole.

He reminded them to be good ambassadors and when they returned, he hoped that would implement all they had learned in their respective departments.

Meanwhile Commissioner of Police Bernardus Groenewald is presently in Monaco attending the 83rd INTERPOL General Assembly session.

He left last Friday with the Minister for Immigration, National Security and Defence, Timoci Natuva.

Fiji’s attendance is part of the overall continuous effort by Government and the Fiji Police to engage with the INTERPOL Secretariat and is consistent with Fiji’s Foreign Policy Framework pursued under the 2009 Strategic Framework for Change setting out political, social and economic reforms.

The meeting ends on November 7.
