Victory Significant: Tikoitoga

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces rugby team members were hosted to a thanksgiving service at Tuvasu Hall at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua yesterday.

The Isake Katonibau –captained side defeated Police 18-10 in the 2014 ANZ Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge at the ANZ Stadium last week.

Speaking to the team, Commander of the RFMF Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga said the victory was significant.

“This win is very significant to us and it was made possible through all your hard work and I acknowledge you for that,” Brigadier-General Tikoitoga said.

“I will tell you why this win is special to us. First, two days ago after the win, we remembered our soldiers who died in the events of 2000 and 2014 marks the 100th year of when the late Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna served in the World War One in France in 1914.

“ I stand here today to acknowledge every one of you who have contributed to the win.”

Meanwhile, RFMF team manager Lieutenant-Colonel Manoa Gadai said this set the stage for preparations next year.

“Our win this year has a set a very good platform for us in terms of preparation for next year,” Lieutenant-Colonel Gadai said.

“Now it’s for us to defend the Ratu Sukuna Bowl and we are looking forward to it and also a good year ahead.

“I want to thank everybody, especially the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, the new Government and to all those who supported the RFMF over the years.”
