Public Consultations Draws North Crowd

The people of the North, especially farmers, were pleased as the Ministry for Lands and Mineral Resources hosted its first public consultation at the Labasa Civic Centre on Thursday.

It was led by Minister Mereseini Vuniwaqa.

People in the North raised their land-related concerns and issues during the consultation.

Mrs Vuniwaqa promised those who turned up that they would solve their problems, at the earliest possible time.

The team included the Permanent Secretary for Lands, Tevita Boseiwaqa, director for lands Pritika Prasad and director for mineral resources Malakai Finau.

Wailevu farmer Bal Raj was among those who attended the consultation.

“I told Madam Minister the problem that I face at my farm,” he said.

Mr Raj thanked Mrs Vuniwaqa for being the first Minister for Lands to listen to farmers’ plight in the North.
“I am thankful that they take my problem seriously and they said they would respond as soon as possible,” he said.
