Big Task For Suva: Gurjit

All Freight Logistics Suva has already started preparations for the upcoming annual 2014 Pacific Football Cup hosted by Western Sydney, Australia on November 26-30.

Coach Gurjit Singh said this would be a tough tournament for them, especially going up against other good teams in Australia.

“We have already started preparations for the Pacific Cup with light training sessions this past week where we concentrated on fitness and teamwork,” Singh said.

“From Monday (tomorrow) we will be doing some serious preparations, we want to have more time to training and prepare ourselves before the big tournament.”

Singh said the Pacific Cup this year is going to be toughest yet compared to last year.

“Over the years, the Pacific Cup has been more competitive as every team are preparing themselves really well as you would expect,” he said.

“It is good to play in tough tournaments such as this because it helps expose players.”

With the OFC Champions League coming up, Singh said the Pacific Cup would be a good platform to prepare his players.

“The reason why we are looking forward to this Pacific Cup is to give the boys exposure especially with the tournaments coming up.

“Playing against these Australian teams will help the boys in their preparations, under different conditions and situations.” he said.

Suva is pooled with 2014 INNK Mobile Battle of the Giants (BOG) winners Rewa but Singh said he sees Rewa just like the rest of the teams.

“Rewa is a good team and they will be competitive and tough to beat but we expect that from all the teams in our pool.”

The Suva players, who are in the Vodafone Fiji U20 team will be joining the team.

“The OFC President’s Cup will finish on Sunday (November 23) and the boys from there will be joining us in Australia on Tuesday (November 25) before the Pacific Cup.” Singh said.

All Freight Logistics Suva is pooled with Rewa, AFFA Sydney, Queensland and Auckland Vatukoula.

They will play their first game against AFFA Sydney at 8.30pm at Edensor Park in Australia.
