The Fiji Yachting Industry was well-represented during the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show at Monte Carlo.
This was made possible when Port Denarau Marina chief executive officer Nigel Skeggs and Yacht Help Fiji managing director David Jamieson got together and spearheaded Fiji’s campaign in the September event

Monte Carlo is known as the heart of the yachting world.
Mr Skeggs said Fiji was able to be part of the event through their New Zealand and Australian counterparts.

“It was a major investment from our point of view to be part of the Monaco show,” he said.

“It was the first time Fiji was ever represented at the most expensive and glamorous event showcasing over 400 yachts.”

He added that the climax of the event was when they spoke about Fiji to the captains and the international media about development of the yachting industry in Fiji.

“The show was a huge success and it showed of our good relationship with Australian and New Zealand,” he added.

The event welcomed over 30,000 visitors who came to see the 115 super yachts and the 510 companies that were present during the four-day event.

Mr Jamieson added that he believes Fiji has the potential to grow bigger in the yachting industry.

“Having a booth during the show was a great way to showcase Fiji to the world which made people talk about Fiji. It was great. To be part of the show at the heart of the yachting world where billionaires and millionaires shared their great wealth should inspire some of them to look at Fiji as a destination as well.”

Mr Jamieson said they were grateful to Tourism Fiji for assisting them.
