Naceva Still Recalls

Every year on November 11, seventy-five-year-old Romanu Naceva sets aside his daily routine to be part of the Rememberance Day commemoration.

He said it is a significant day for him and his family.

“I was a Warrant Officer Class II and served in the British Empire from 1961 to 1983. One of my best memories was when we were farewelled in 1983 to come to our home island Fiji,” Mr Naceva said.

“Serving in the army taught me a lot of life’s lessons and I am forever thankful. I am retired and enjoying my pension. Today is very special to us, especially for us military men as we remember our fellow loved ones who scarified their lives while in their line of duty,” he said.

Sergant Anup Kumar also felt the same way.

“I served in the military from 1978 to 2011 and today is one of those days that we will always cherish as an ex-military service man.”
