Constitution Talks Starts With FRU

Fiji Rugby Union and the Government have started discussions on the amendment of the FRU constitution.

FRU chief executive officer Radrodro Tabualevu earlier stated that they could have an Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting until the constitution was changed.

“We cannot have the AGM under this current constitution, it has to be changed,

“We would have to go to government to seek special instrument to be able to change parts of the constitution,” Tabualevu said.

Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou confirmed to SUNsports yesterday that they have started discussions with FRU last week.

“The discussions has started with FRU last week and I see there are some loopholes that needs to be improved,

“IRB has given the green lights for FRU to amend the constitution,” Tuitubou said.

Tuitubou also confirmed that they would meet with FRU officials again sometimes next week to discuss the pathway forward.

“We will meet with FRU next week to see the pathway as we want this to be done as soon as possible because IRB assistance is on hold as they wait for the AGM,” Tuitubou said.
