Team Nadi will be fielding four teams in the 10th National Men and Mix Netball Inter-District Championship at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, this Saturday.

Head coach Vilikesa Driu said they would be fielding teams in the Open Men, Mixed, Masters and Under-23 (development) categories respectively.

He said Nadi was a formidable side in previous years and would like to redeem themselves this time around to claim the two prestige prize – Tabete Shield (Men) and the Alini Sovu Trophy (Mixed).

“We have been training for so long now and we know this is the main competition for the year. The competitive level will be really high,” said Driu.

“Team Nadi will be going in as underdogs to the IDC and we expect tough competition from Suva and Lautoka teams who have been in top form last year.

The association will be banking on their seasoned players  which includes Joseph Lee, Vilikesa Driu, Sairusi Naiubi and Tikiko Nabuka.

Former national rep in the likes of Ana Tawake, Marica Ketedromo, and current rep Alisi Naqiri will be a force to reckon in the mixed category.

“Nadi as an association have not been functioning well two years back as we were an undisputed team in the country then but we are coming back to that standard now,” Driu said.
