The Acting Head of Mission of the New Zealand High Commission, Mark Ramsden said that his office is willing to assist in areas of youth and sports development in the future.

Ramsden visited the Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou yesterday and said; “Fiji and New Zeland share similar interests in sports and we are willing to offer our assistance where and when necessary.”

“I understand the Fiji Under-20 side will be travelling to New Zealand next year for the FIFA World Cup,” Ramsden said.

“This is a great achievement for Fiji and we are willing to provide assistance to Fiji FA or to the Government to assist Fiji’s campaign in the World Cup.”

Tuitubou was elated about the meeting and said; “The meeting was fruitful and I believe there are positive things ahead between the two countries.”

“I believe we will maximise their offer for assistance in the build-up and during the U20  FIFA World Cup next year since it will be held in New Zealand,” Tuitubou said.

“We will also pursue other avenues of assistance in youth and sports development later from the office of the New Zealand High Commission.”

Both have agreed to keep the communication lines open in the future for more talks on areas of assistance.
