Defending Champs Cruise On Day One
Action from the 2014 Bayley’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The side edged Mana Graphix Uluinakau 24-22 in the first match and later punished 2012 champions Red Rock 26-10.

Lead by national 7’s rep, Semi Kunatani, the side is geared to take on their next challengers  Gecko’s Lomaiviti today.

While Kunatani had led by example for Yamacia, another player to watch is Sunia Vosikata who scored two tries and is a member of the Vodafone Fiji 7s squad.

Another national squad member, Mosese Mawalu had been exceptional in setting up tries for his teammates.

“Players knew of the pressure being the defending champions and have done exceptionally well,” said Yamacia team manager David Dakuitoga.

“We managed to beat Red Rock who are strong contenders for the title in Pool A.”

Dakuitoga says players were able to counterattack their opponents and managed to cruise in the first day of pool playoff.

“We are so lucky to have had the divine intervention of the Almighty which made our boys to win.”

The side is hoping to maintain their consistency.

Meanwhile, Tokatoka Westfield Dragons from Pool D also look promising after having thrashed their opponents Coastal Bull 31-0 and Samoa 7’s champions Lauli’I Lions 38-7.
