Telecom Fijiana rep Sereana Nagatalevu tasted top level rugby on Day One of the 2014 Bayley’s Coral Coast Sevens at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The 21-year-old of Rakiraki, Yale , Kadavu made her debut in the second-half against the Highlanders.

“It was good playing in front of a big crowd,” she said.

Nagatalevu says playing against an overseas teams has shown her the competitive level required to be a part of the national side.

She is hopeful to represent Fiji in the IRB Women’s World Sevens Series next month. While she may not have secured a try or opened the doors for her teammates,

Nagatalevu did impress her mentor and headcoach Iliesa Tanivula.

“She did some good stuff on the field and I’m happy with her performance,” he said.

Tanivula said he would use the tournament to prepare the team for Dubai. The Fijiana got to an explosive start in their first pool match against Highlanders punishing them 33-7.

They hit the HPU Gym after their first pool match preparing for the second match and won by default over Pacific Barbarians.

From Pool R, the Aussie Pearls made  a big statement with two big wins over PNG 36-7 and Lady Babas 55-0. Tournament chairman Jay Whyte anticipates the women’s final showdown between Telecom Fijiana and Aussie Pearls.
