Graduates Cautioned

The 30 graduates of Corpus Christi Teachers College, Suva, were reminded of their responsibility as teachers on Thursday.
The acting Permanent Secretary for Education, Basundra Kumar, reminded the graduates that there were a lot of changes they needed to adapt to.
Ms Kumar was chief guest at the college’s graduation ceremony at the Kshatriya Hall in Suva yesterday.
“I understand that we are all excited about getting into the field of work, specifically into the teaching profession. But, let me caution you, there will be a lot of changes that we will need to adhere to,” Ms Kumar said.
“Changes will be inevitable. It is inevitable that structures and processes and relationships will change in your day-to-day lives.”
She reminded the graduates that they needed to be proactive rather than being reactive at all times.
She also reminded the group of the zero tolerance policy implemented by the ministry towards corporal punishment on students.
The 30 graduated with a Diploma in Primary Education.
