A suspect, who had been under Police watch, has been brought in for questioning in relation to the alleged murder of Australian Tracy Ann O’Brien Maw.Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the suspect is now in Police custody.

“We had been keeping a close eye on the suspect and we have brought him in for questioning,” she said.

Ms Naisoro said that further information on the suspect will be released later today.

The victim was found in Sigatoka on Monday by Etuate Senikau when he was on his way to Nasama Village with his dog after watching a rugby match at around 7pm.

“I was on my way to a shop at Nasama Village when my dog suddenly ran off into a bush at Waiwai,” he said.

“The body was covered with grass and I could not identify the victim because her body had been partially decomposed,” Mr Senikau said.

The deceased was later identified by her brother Rodney James Maw who was in Fiji in search of his sister.

It was believed that the victim was last seen last week Thursday at a drinking party in Sigatoka and had been missing since then.

The victim’s body was cremated straight after post mortem on Tuesday evening because of the extreme stages of putrefaction.

Police have classified the case as an alleged murder and are currently conducting further investigations.
