Nadi Airport Primary School is helping its former student and Miss World Fiji,  Charlene Tafuna’i collect money to buy a new ventilator machine to be used at the Colonial War Memorial War Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

The Miss World Fiji beauty queen did not expect that from her former school.

“This is unbelievable for me with the support from the school and these children,” Miss Tafuna’i.

“Their contribution for my charity is deeply appreciated by me and my team.”

Miss Tafuna’i is conducting a charity drive for a new ventilator machine at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

A ventilator is a machine that helps a patient to breathe. Patients are usually placed on a ventilator because of a medical problem that makes it hard for them to breathe well on their own. While on the ventilator, the body is able to rest so that it can heal.

The cost of the machine is about $65000. The Miss World Fiji team has so far collected $2400.

The 20-year-old Taveuni native has urged the public to support her journey to the Miss World contest.

Miss Tafuna’i will leave for London next Wednesday, November 19.
