Para Teams Join League

The Fiji Table Tennis Association started their second businesshouse competition to generate more interest to the minor sport.

The 2014 Summer Businesshouse League and A-League competition consists of eight businesses including two para (disabled) teams plus the elite team gearing up for the Pacific Games next year.
Fiji Table Tennis Association development officer Harvi Yee said the last businesshouse tournament was a success and brought in a lot of interest into the sport.

“It is good to see a lot of businesses and generally people taking an interest in table tennis considering it is a minor sport,” Yee said.
“This is will help grow the support and now there are two para-teams joining the competition among the business houses.
“This makes the competition even more interesting because when someone plays against a player in the para-team, they will need to sit on a chair and play especially if their opponent is in a wheelchair.”

The eight teams include Gem Fiji, Carpenters Motors, Anthony Ho & Associates, UXC Eclipse, Westpac, Multiple Intelligence School, Para 2 and Fiji Para.

Competitions are every Tuesdays and Thursday and will end on December 4.
