The Vodafone Fiji Under-20 team are leaving behind their 3-0 loss to Vanuatu’s Amicale FC and are now focused on their next game.

This was the message from national team director Tarunesh Reddy who said they have now turned their attention on Bahrain’s Busaiteen Club.

“They came into the tournament to win it just like any other team so the loss to Amicale is a match we would not dwell on,” he said.

“We are taking this tournament very seriously and this is a build up stage for us and regardless of us losing we will leave that match aside.”

With all the hype about the Fiji U20 team taking part in the OFC Presidents Cup and the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup, Reddy says, the team’s exposure to play experienced clubs is the most important aspect.

“We held Amicale for the first 25 minutes before they scored and that speaks volumes. People need to realise that our boys are 19-years and are rubbing shoulders with players who are far more experienced.

“Winning against them maybe hard but we will not count out losing and we take every game seriously.

“This is just the beginning for us. The team will be having a lot of exposure after this Presidents Cup to build them up for the World Cup next year.”

The coaching staff members have identified areas that the side needs to improve on before their next match on Friday.

“During our game against Amicale we noticed our striking pose is a bit weak as well as our midfield but mostly we lack in our finishing. We had four or five good opportunities to score but we couldn’t and that is something we are aiming to improve on as well as our midfield this week.”
