Authority Enhances Security Features

The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji has enhanced security features of its Import and Export permits to align with international practices, prevent fraud and boost its branding.

BAF Executive Chairman, Mr Xavier Riyaz Khan described these features in the Import and Export permits as a positive move for Fiji, especially in aligning with international trading practices.

“The Import and Export permits issued by BAF forms important documents in international trade.

“Hence, it is important that these documents comply with international standards enhancing the image of BAF and Fiji as well in the trading arena,” Mr Khan said.

Attorney General and Minister for Public Enterprises, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said it was critical that all Fijian agencies get up to international standards.

This is ensure that not only are our products attractive but to tell the world that Fiji is a trading partner and an investment destination that values international best practices.

This will lead to economic growth, job creation and better value for Fijian products.

BAF will begin issuing the new permits by the end of November 2014.

Please note that the new permit is for both Plant and Animal Matter.
