As only weeks remaining for the start of the National Super League, the Nadroga netball team have started its preparations.

Manageress Ana Vasuilakeba said the tournament is a good initiative to keep netball players on track.

“I believe this tournament will benefit a lot of players and we are all very excited and looking forward to it,” Vasuilakeba said.

“This tournament will keep the girls playing. This will keep them busy and it will bring the best out of them. We don’t want women who play netball to be idle and wait till the New Year. They need to be constantly engaged in the sport which will help develop their skills, so this tournament is a positive move for the sport.”

Vasuilakeba said with this tournament, they are aiming for a top three ranking.

“We want to see if we can get Nadroga in the first three rankings out of all the districts that will be taking part. Putting our players out there on such a platform will be good for them and hopefully they are recognised and can make it into the Fiji Pearls because that is what we want to do- make our players better.”

Nadroga has already selected its squad after a netball workshop with national coach Kate Carpenter last Saturday.
