Modi Reassures PIC leaders

This is the first meeting between India and Pacific Island countries but I assure you all that this is not the last, says India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

He was speaking to Pacific island leaders at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday.

“This meeting is a historic one and as the largest democracy in the world we have intentions to listen to the Pacific leaders on the challenges they face,” Mr Modi said.

He said he wanted to congratulate and thank the Prime Minister of Fiji, Voreqe Bainimarama for hosting the summit for the Pacific leaders.

“I want to discuss about what India can do for the Pacific island countries as well as what you can do for your country.”

Mr Modi said this summit would help Pacific leaders talk about the challenges they faced and how they could engage themselves and work on the solutions.

“I’m happy to meet the Pacific leaders and I’m also grateful to them for taking out their precious time to attend this important summit.”
