Suva Rugby Union president, Commander Francis Kean has challenged the RC Manubhai Suva Rugby Union (SRU) players for the 2015 season.

Speaking at the Union’s awards night at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay Convention Centre last night, Kean posed a question on why Suva is not the provincial rugby champion.

“Let me ask you this question. Why isn’t Suva the provincial rugby champion?

“Our benchmark for 2015 is to beat Nadroga and if we can’t, we have to ask ourselves serious questions. When we were losing this  season, I was telling the coaches that the players were unfit, but they kept on telling me that they were fit,” Kean said.

“Get your mindset right.

“In Fiji players are always physically and spiritually prepared, but not mentally, so we need you to have a right mindset come the next season,” he said.

The union has started with the off-season programme and the management is calling on selected players to follow their off-season training programme.

“If you a fifteens player, focus on fifteens. You have to make a choice. We will have to see a much more improved performance come 2015.”

Kean also acknowledged their major sponsors RC Manubhai, Novotel Suva Lami Bay and co-sponsors for their support.

RC Manubhai operations manager Oscar Del Mel last night confirmed that they would continue their sponsorship with  SRU next year.

“Thank you SRU and other co-sponsors for a great year.

“We would continue this partnership for next year,” Del Mel said. Novotel Suva Lami Bay manager Simon Harper also acknowledges SRU for the great partnership.
