Students of Korotogo Andhra Primary School, in Sigatoka were inspired by the works of journalists in getting news out to the public.

The school’s Year Seven and Year Eight students were at the Fiji Sun headquarters last Friday on an excursion trip.

Year eight student Filomena Senirosi, 13, said she enjoyed the visit because she learned the different aspects of journalism, newspaper production and circulation.

She said people should be appreciative of the work done by journalists around the country because they played a huge role in keeping people informed about what was happening.

“The visit here today has taught me to understand how hard journalists work to get the news out to the people,” Filomena said.

Year Eight student Sidhant Kumar, 14, said he had always aspired to become a sports journalist and the trip had taught him about how journalists worked at a newspaper.

“This trip has created awareness among the students on the important roles that the media play,” he said.

School teacher Surujni Kumar said they had visited the Fiji Sun factory because it was one of the leading newspapers in the country.

Meanwhile, students of Jasper Williams Primary School from Lautoka also toured the Fiji Sun office and production centre facility.
