Parents of Bukuya Village School kindergarten in the Nausori Highlands in the interior of Nadi were happy to see their children graduate last Wednesday.

Sixteen students graduated – the pioneers of the kindy.

Their teacher, Anei Labakara said, “These students have developed immensely in their pre-school studies”.
She said pre-school education was important and teachers and parents should help a child learn the basics of reading and writing.

“Children are fast learners. All they need is assistance to help them through. These tiny tots have shown that whether you reside in rural or urban vicinities, education is for all.”

Meanwhile, Year Six teacher, Shristi Datt is looking forward to teaching the 16 students next year.

“Preschool studies make our work easier so that we are able to spend more time on teaching them other aspects of primary school education,” Ms Datt said.
