The Assemblies of God (AOG) Fiji’s Calvary Temple congregation unveiled a memorial Stone of Rememberance yesterday to honour those who started the church in 1964 in Suva.

Temple senior pastor and AOG Fiji general superintendant, Reverend Mosese Cakau said they wanted to remember how God had been faithful to the church.

“We wanted to honour those who started this movement. We still have some of the men and women who live in Fiji while some now reside overseas,” Rev Cakau said.

“We also wanted to remember the fact that God has been faithful to those in the past and to remind the new generation that God will remain faithful.”

He said the unveiling also signified changes that would be taken on by the church and its plan to move forward and accomplish greater missions in the future.

Rev Cakau is also the son of the founder of the church, the late Rev Alipate Cakau.

“For me personally, seeing some of the very senior pastors of the church who worked with my father is encouraging.”

Rev Cakau said he couldn’t describe how he felt witnessing the fruits of his father’s labour and those who worked with him.

“There’s just a host of emotions that I can’t begin to describe seeing the church grow tremendously over the years and today we’ve reached 50 years.

“We think of those who would’ve wanted to be here, but we know they are celebrating with us in spirit,” he said.
