Selai Pridgeon and his son, James won the 2014 Fiji Amateur Mixed Championship at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club in Nadi yesterday.
National rep Selai and James carded a total of 151 (78, 73) to come out victorious in the two-person Ambrose event.
James dedicated the win to his late dad, former National Golf Association of Fiji president Tony Pridgeon.

“I’m very proud to win my first national title,” James said.

“I wish my dad was here as he was the one behind our golfing career. We have been winning the ambrose event together in Pacific Harbour in the last six months and we will be definitely defending our title next year. “

Hem Chand and Lyndall Fisher were runners up with a score of 164 with Mohammed Faiyaz and Hena Han settled for a third spot with a score of 173.

Nadi businessman Abid Hussein and Anna Dunn claimed the nett winner with a score of 136.
Husband and wife Mark and Janice Hinton scored 146 to claim the nett runner -up prize while third prize went to Rocky Peters and Rina Peters 148.

National Golf Association of Fiji (NGAF) secretary Amitesh Chandra said 15 teams took part in the one-day event.
“It was a great turnout compared to last year,” said Chandra.
“We thank Srixon Cleveland for their continued support and we expect the event to be bigger and better in 2015.”

Chandra said the NGAF’s 2014 champion vs champion will be held on December 13-14 at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.
