History was made when Xi Jinping on Friday became the first Chinese President to set foot in Fiji.

He left the country yesterday with his delegation, leaving behind a mark on those who have come to Fiji from China.
Businessman “Frank” Bin Li Fu has made Fiji his second home for the past three years. He said the visit by President Xi had inspired him.

He runs a shop located along the main street in Nadi called the Newport Lifestyle Limited.
Mr Bin, his wife Lily Huz Hong Shi and his in-laws were among a big crowd at the Nadi International Airport to farewell President Xi.

“His visit is very inspirational for me as he is loved by everyone. Personally as for the first time a President of my homeland came to Fiji which is my second home,” said Mr Bin.

“We went to Denarau to see him while he was having a series of meeting with Fiji and other Pacific islands leaders. We love China and we love Fiji too so we want to see him off as well.”

Mr Bin, who hails from Shanghai district, said the signing of Memorandums of Understanding  between the two nations would play an important role.

Meanwhile, President Xi was deeply touched when staff members of the Sheraton Fiji Resort and Spa sang him the famous Fijian farewell song – ‘Isa Lei’.

President Xi and his delegation left Nadi International Airport at 11am yesterday.

They left behind a reinforcement of Fiji-China ties, more help for Fiji and a happy Mr Fu.
