Members of the Opposition discussed the Budget in a closed meeting in Suva yesterday.

And Leader of Opposition Ro Teimumu Kepa has declined to comment.

It is understood that the meeting was to prepare a strategy for the Opposition members to respond to the Budget when the debate starts next Monday.

Guest speakers who also attended the meeting included former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase, Citizens Constitutional Forum executive director Akuila Yabaki,

former finance minister Ratu Jone Kubuabola, SODELPA candidate Tomasi Vakatora and academic Wadan Narsey

Government MPs will meet today to discuss the Budget.

Meanwhile there has been no change in the stand-off between the Government and the Opposition in the Public Accounts Committee over the role of Biman Prasad.

Parliament secretary-general Viniana Namosimalua said there was no confirmation about a meeting.

The Government side wants Mr Prasad to apologise for commenting on the Auditor-General’s report before the committee sat. But he has maintained he did nothing wrong and that that the contents of the report were out in the public.
