The Ministry of Agriculture has formed a taskforce to prevent an outbreak of Tuberculosis among cattle.

It has allocated $1million to fight the disease that is currently affecting the dairy industry.

It has been reported that several farmers in the Western Division have been asked to cull infected cattle.

The Minister for Agriculture, Inia Seruiratu said all questions should be sent to his  Permanent Secretary, Ropate Ligairi.

According to the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development England, evidence of bovine TB is commonly found in the lymph glands of the throat and lungs of affected animals. The bacteria, which causes the disease, are mainly passed out of the infected animal’s body in its breath or in discharges from the nose or mouth.
