The Fiji Ship Owners Agency Association says it has managed to move members into action towards a common goal to address industry-related issue.

It has been made possible through its recently mended relationship with that of Fiji Ports Corporation Limited and Ports Terminal Limited.

Association chairperson Craig Strong said has and will continue to augur well for the industry.

“We have also continued a proactive approach to hosting ‘Talanoa’ sessions with other key stakeholders,” Mr Strong said.

“I do not really see concerns or challenges for the Association but more so opportunities for the industry as a whole.

“We are an import driven economy and our economy is enjoying buoyant growth and whilst this is putting pressure on existing Port facilities, this is a good problem to have.”

The challenge now, he said, was ensuring continued work as an Industry with a ‘solutions-based’ mindset that provides an environment where all stakeholders win.

“The association is grounded on a solid platform of strong leadership and a tradition of unity therefore with the support of a strong Executive Committee,” Mr Strong said.

“They are Rona Campbell (vice chairperson), Bradley Bower (Secretary) and Ronal Kumar (Treasurer).”
