It was a proud moment for Lovu Sangam School Year Eight student, Mamta Shivangni Naidu after she was announced the school’s 2014 dux on Tuesday in Lautoka.

Her parents, Priya and Janardan Naidu, both teaching at the school were literally on cloud nine after the announcement was made.

“Apart from my daughter, another Year Eight student was nominated but the dux recipient was not finalised,” said Mamta’s proud father.

“They say the sky is the limit but I’m beyond that now. She has surpassed all our achievements and we are proud for her.”

Despite both parents being educators, Mamta wishes to be the first chartered accountant in the family.

“The decision to become a chartered accountant is Mamta’s and if she is content with it then we are fully supportive of it.”

She also scooped best subject awards in English, maths, basic science, social science, Hindi, health science, physical education, music and art and craft.

She was also won the best academic female student prize and the leadership prize also.

“I’m very excited to venture into secondary school studies. Although a bit nervous but ready to take on the challenges,” an elated Mamta said.
