Successful women in business from around the Pacific have gathered at the Sheraton Fiji sharing their passion of empowering women in the business field.

Hosting yet another successful year for the ladies, Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation chief executive Mereia Volavola said the conference has had much positive response.

“We have just had response from representatives and officials that we should find a bigger room since the number of participants have greatly increased,” she said.

“This is a good response because it actually means we have grown compared to 2012.”
More than 150 women are attending the conference, representing different business and community. They will be learning to empower themselves in business economically.

Australia’s Ambassador for Women and Children, Natasha Despoja, said one of the things they wish to focus on is women participation.

“We are going to look at things like increasing women participation in the workforce,” she said.

“There is a need in empowering women economically whether entrepreneurs have a big or a small business and from today, we hope to gather great recommendations.”

Meanwhile, Ms Despoja was very happy with the changes that had taken place in the Lautoka Market.

“I was very pleased to see there was accommodation and resource centre provided to the market vendor,” she said.
The three day event will end tomorrow at the Sheraton Fiji on Denarau Island in Nadi.
