My cousin is very smart. This is how Juna Lee described his cousin Sungeon Cho who was named dux of Marist Brothers High School (MBHS) for 2014.

Sungeon who is a pure science student is in Korea at the moment.

In an email interview, he said: “It is an honour to get these prizes as I finish my Year 12 level. Getting a dux prize was impossible without God, teachers, my fellow brother’s parents and my aunt and uncle. I just want to say thank you to everybody. I wish the best of luck to all my fellow brothers in their future endeavours. I am sorry for not being present for prizegiving day. This was because of clash of schedules with interviews for university in Korea.”

Meanwhile, Tristan Goulding was only two marks behind the total marks scored by the MBHS dux.

“I thank my parents, students and especially the teachers for their encouragement and support. The level in the competition in the school was good and I felt that if I took my time during the exams, I could have achieved the best award,” Tristan said.

“But all in all, I congratulate the dux of year 2014 and attending Marist has been one of the best memories I have. I will always cherish the brotherhood here.

Parents and students were part of the annual prizegiving yesterday.
