Members of the Government caucus sounded positive yesterday as they met for discussions on their 2015 budget presentations over the next two weeks.

The discussions were led by Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the Leader of Government Business Pio Tikoduadua.  Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is in London for important sugar trade talks.

Members of the Public Accounts Committee, Semi Koroilavesau, Sanjit Patel and Balmindar Singh will have to excuse themselves this morning from the Government caucus to attend the PAC meeting.

Mr Koroilavesau said they planned to meet before the Public Accounts Committee just to discuss a few more issues.

“Yes,we’ll have to find time for it because as you can see we’ve got a very busy time, meeting as a Government caucus but it’s important that we meet before the Public Accounts Committee, “ he said.
Earlier, he had sounded positive about the next two weeks, saying they were prepared for the Opposition budgetary responses.

“Well, it’s their right to respond, and it’s our right to govern. We just want to make sure everyone is on board and our time together as the Government caucus is to answer questions that anyone might have.”

Leader of the Opposition Ro Teimumu Kepa is likely to start the budget response on Monday.
