PM To Address Sugar Meeting

The Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, will address the 46th International Sugar Organisation (ISO) meeting today.

The Permanent Secretary for Sugar, Manasa Vaniqi, confirmed this from London yesterday.

He said that yesterday the Prime Minister visited the Tower of London. Mr Vaniqi said the Fijian delegation also attended the international seminar on “Sugar and Ethanol: Fresh Options”.

The seminar focused on relevant issues and areas that were commonly referred to as ‘outside the box’.
The 23rd ISO Seminar was chaired by Farideh Bromfiel. She has concentrated many years in feasibility and analysis, always looking to stay one step ahead of the emerging trends and keenly aware of the relevant factors that shape the future.

Meanwhile the Prime Minister was briefed on Tuesday on the activities of the Fiji High Commission in the United Kingdom and their associated role in advancing Fiji’s interests in the region.

Mr Bainimarama was pleased to note that the High Commission has been active with Fijian communities in the United Kingdom mainly comprising of those in the Armed Forces.

The Prime Minister, who is in London this week for the annual sugar talks also met with British government officials yesterday.
