Conference Ends On High

The Pacific Women in Business Conference ended on a positive note at the Sheraton Fiji, on Denarau Island, in Nadi, yesterday.

More than 150 women from Pacific island countries attended the three- day event.
Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation’s chief executive officer, Mereia Volavola said she was very happy with the turnout.

“The meeting has been a very strong, having to hear the inspiring stories from courageous ladies who are now very successful.

“I have had many positive responses from the women about the three -day event and I am very happy with this,” she said.

Ms Volavola has urged the participants to make use of technology and to network. “There is technology available which you should take advantage of and more importantly try and network as much as you can.

“Let’s not wait for government assistance and let’s start taking action,” she said.
Children and Poverty Alleviation director, Rupeni Fatiaki congratulated the women.

“I congratulate all of you here today and commend you on your successes individually.

“We know however that attitudes are always the hardest to change and therefore it is the commitment of the Ministry of Women to work with civil society organisations, with the support of development partners, to ensure gender equality,” he said.

The host for the 2015 conference is yet to be decided.
