FICAC Hosts West Media

In recognising the work of journalists, the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), met representatives of mainstream media at Lautoka yesterday.

FICAC public affairs officer Nandni Vandhana said FICAC viewed the media as a very important tool for engagement.

She said the media reaches members of the public and decision makers in the fight against corruption.

“Basically to foster the partnership for better working relationship with the media based in the Western Division,” Ms Vandhana said.

“The FICAC deems the media as very important to spread the message of anti-corruption. We can assist each other to be very effective.”

Ms Vandhana said FICAC would celebrate International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD) on December 9 with the theme ‘Fostering partnerhip against corruption for sustainable development in Fiji.’

“As the roadshow will be prominently represented in the West, we look forward to the participation of media organisations with the involvement of the public at large.”

She said this year the Commission would be engaging in a nationwide roadshow visiting all the towns in Viti Levu, and parts of Vanua Levu as well.

The roadshow will begin in Ba towards the Kings Highway while the other in Lami travels the Queens Highway with a celebration at Shelly Park in Lautoka.
