It hasn’t taken long for all the worms to come out of the woodwork. Since the promise of visas and employment in Australia and New Zealand every man, woman and their dog has been trying to figure out a way to go across.

It shows our gullibility as well when so many cases are highlighted.

But beware, Labour Minister Jioji Konrote is a shrewd operator and and every scam will be dealt with severely on his watch.

The Australian and New Zealand authorities are already onto it as well. We’ve had to learn quickly over the past 15 years as one fly-by-night operation after another skimmed money from gullible Fijians.

Because of the tough measures taken to combat these crimes some of these conmen have taken their games to the Fijian community in the United States of America.

There are some operators already out there. If anyone promises work in Australia, New Zealand, US, Canada, and even Papua New Guinea, beware.

Check first with the relevant embassies before handing over any money.

Some of these fly-by-night operators have respectable occupations, a perfect camouflage. Don’t trust anyone, especially the smooth talkers in your very neighbourhood.
