Heroes Need Heroes donated AU$10,000 (FJ$16,000) worth of equipment to the Sigatoka Hospital and Volunteer Emergency Rescue Team (VERT) Rescue at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa, Yanuca last Friday.

The equipment, under the care of VERT, will help the team greatly.

Team representative Anthony Blake said: “We are privileged to have the Heroes Need Heroes on board with us, assisting us with these equipment that will really help us in our work.

“The upgrading of our facility has been a concern and we hope to provide better service to those in need,” he said.

VERT, in partnership with Heli-Tours and HELiPRO, feel that the assistance would bring a change.

“Before, we would not have that much equipment to be able to cater for patients, but as we receive the donation we feel that this can make our work easier,” Mr Blake said.

Heroes Need Heroes vice-president Trent Ramsay said the donation was something they knew Fiji would need.

“Despite conducting training in the community on first-aid treatment we felt that we needed the equipment to provide better service. Without these equipment, I don’t think we will be able to do our job at providing the needed service,” he said.

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa’s general manager, Craig Powell said they had formed an emergency response team for the safety of people.
